The Life collection is a series of floral structures, depicting and using seasonal flowers. Each of the four seasons is depicted by a different structure and each structure forms a letter. Together they spell out LIFE.
A Bayleaf vase filled with bay flower buds and creeping anemone. The structure of this piece is a moss and chicken wire construction, with individual bay leaves hand-pinned onto the form. The anemone flowers spill over the vase in a natural, abundant fashion. Spring embodies the feeling of the birth of life and these buds seem to be searching out the light. The letter L can be seen within this.
An enclosed wire tower of red amarylis heads. In the winter, we are more bound by the weather and by our traditions that influence us to stay inside. Amaryllis are symbolically wintery flowers, expressing the season. The tall, slender structure outline the letter I.
A towering wisp of contorted willow, trailing amaranthus, dried hydrangea, jewel-like viburnum berries and purple vanda orchids. This form is relaxed; the feeling we have in Autumn when we think about the summer that has passed and the cosy winter we are yet to embrace. The letter F can be seen within the sloping top arc and protruding twines beneath.
A spiral of closely arranged yellow craspedia heads inter-mingled with the Tanacetum daisy, Ornithogolum flowers and a fringe of astilbe. The spiral shape is exciting, fun and depicts the happy, shining sun. Yellow is a naturally sunny colour that we associate with the balmy haze of summer. The letter E rolls like handwriting within the delicate spiral.
