This sustainable Wedding was a delight to arrange the flowers for.
This wedding at Tournerbury on Hayling Island at the end of May was inspired by Heather and Tim’s love of the outdoors. They also desired to not have too much waste after the event making this a super sustainable Wedding! The couple took home quite a few and planted up a raised bed at their home. Many guests left with armfuls. The other good part of this idea is that the displayed could be moved from spot to another again so as not to waste anything.
For the outside ceremony the black Pergola was decorated with lots of plants. They were arranged as if they had been growing there all the time. We used large daisy, foxtail lily, delphinium, and snapdragons enhanced with twigs.
For the reception we hung planks over the banquet tables and decorated with lots of herbs. All the bottles and jars on the tables are recycled and were filled with seasonal flowers and leaves, including a few bits foraged for on the estate.
Heather and her maids carried natural bunches in soft blues, lemons and cream. Tim and the groomsmen had boutonière style buttonholes – a cluster of different blooms and leaves. All the flowers were locally grown.
