This gorgeous August Wedding was inspired by the tropical woodlands.
We had the pleasure of being featured on the Love My
Dress wedding blog for this gorgeous August Wedding.
You can go and see more about the special day over there.
This August Wedding at Tournerbury on Hayling Island was so much fun to decorate for. The concept was “make it look like Kew Gardens” so we used lots of different foliage and grass, teamed with clashing, coloured flowers including long-stemmed Gladioli, huge Dahlias, Protea, herbs, and a few seasonal stems grown by the bride’s mum.
As the budget didn’t stretch to palm trees we made them using Birch branches set into concrete, then we attached palm leaves and long eucalyptus stems. These were accompanied by potted herbs, wrapped hessian and plenty of glass jars, bottles and vases holding seasonal flowers and candles.
The bride had a very large, wild bouquet and a green flower crown. The maids (or rather the bride’s besties!) each had a flower crown, as did the couple’s daughter.
What a day it was! We were lucky enough to be invited to the party and it was such a perfect festival of love. We had hog-roast and there was so much champagne that the groom had to go to the local shop to buy more. There were super good and very funny speeches, blankets on the lawn and a great load of tunes from the groom and his friends. Oh, and sparklers and marshmallows by the fire pit. It was a lovely day, with lots of friends and multiple generations.
